Commercial Video Production Cleveland Ohio Videographer

The big day is here! * Gulp! * The production crew is set, the light is brighter than the sun, and suddenly you can’t even remember your name.

Yup, you’re in front of the camera.

Most likely you’ve known this day would be coming for awhile now… You’ve prepared, planned, and are READY TO GO! But still, being on camera can add some pressure, especially the first time.

Here are some quick tips to help you relax, be yourself, focus and overall accomplish the goal of nailing your video debut.

1. Practice makes perfect (or at least prepared).

Depending on the project, you may have a script planned out ahead of time. Going over your talking points out loud can help you confidently articulate your message. Plus, practicing helps you feel confident so that even if you feel caught off guard by all of the equipment and lights, you can rely on your preparedness as you adjust to the interview set.

2. Utilize breathing techniques and calming exercises.

Nerves are natural, but don't let them distract you from your goals. Take deep breaths, visualize success, and maybe indulge in a calming ritual before the shoot. Whether it's a short yoga session morning of, meditation, listening to some calming music, or sipping on some tea with honey, find what works for you to help you feel calm. A composed mindset enhances your on-camera presence and helps you relax and focus. Plus, if you have ongoing content needs, being on camera will become second nature. 👌

3. Cover the basics: eat and stay hydrated!

It may seem tempting to skip a meal leading up to your shoot, but trust us, you don’t want to be on an empty stomach. Not eating could cause you to feel distracted or even a little mentally cloudy. Trust us - eat an hour before your shoot (even if it’s just a small snack like fruit and crackers) and drink plenty of water day before and day of production to ensure you’re ready to do the talking without being distracted by a dry mouth or stomach growling!

4. Trust our crew to help you with the production day process.

As video production experts, we understand that we are working with people - and that means being patient, helpful, and attentive to your needs on production day. We work with you to stay in our targeted film day timeline all while providing ample time for extra takes or breaks in between cuts. There you have it—some tips for preparing like a pro for your video shoot! Even with all the tips in the world, you might still feel a little jittery. Totally normal! Slow down, take a breath, and give yourself grace. Being on camera is a skill to be learned and a muscle you need to workout. Perfection isn’t the win - showing up is! So break a leg (not literally), and remember to have fun—it’s your time to shine! ✨
